Interdisciplinary Artist

Tara is an artist interested in conversations that emerge through the entanglement of ideas. She has created installations, projections, public art events, books, sculptures, prints, and paintings. Her projects have combined investigations into new technologies with research on environmental issues, genetics, code, media and information, and the embedded history of objects, culture, and place.

bio and creative practice

Tara’s books are in collections at Harvard, Hayden Library, Bowdoin College, Maine Media College, and in private collections from Washington, D.C. to Maine. She received an ALC and an Eisenhower Grant for her book Connections and Reflections. She was commissioned to create sculptural installations for First Night Boston, Arts in the Parks, and Environmental Arts in Massachusetts. Her previous Pop-up Projections in Bucksport, ME, were funded with Project grants for Artists from the Maine Arts Commission. She recently received a Monson Artist Residency and a Book Arts Residency at Maine Media College. Tara has been a contributor to WATD’s program Spoken Voices. She is the founder of Kamikaze Publishing.

Tara has roots in both Massachusetts and Maine. She received a BFA in Painting from Boston University and an MFA in Intermedia from the University of Maine Orono. Tara has taught book design, printmaking, drawing, and new media courses for the University of Maine’s New Media Department, The Hutchinson Center in Belfast, ME, Waterfall Arts, Unity College, and Maine Media Workshops.
